My plans are to feature a book review a day. In the meantime I’m building an inventory of books to work from. Since there is no highlight today, I thought I’d post about something I saw awhile back, and has been brought to my attention again. Alex Tew, a first year university student in the UK, started The Million Dollar Homepage roughly 3 months ago. Site traffic has rocketed and currently is top 200,000 sites on the web (big feat figuring his site is 3 months old, and there are over 8 billion webages). His concept, in hindsight, was simple. Set up a homepage with a million ‘pixels’ and sell them as advertisements for $1. His goal: sell every pixel to amass a wealth of $1M (853,059.70 euros to be exact). His story shows you what ‘one idea’ can do. For him it will be worth a free education, publicity, and hundreds of thousands of dollars. It just goes to show you what happens when you put your idea(s) to work. I’m sure it wasn’t his first idea, and he probably failed numerous times before succeeding with the million dollar homepage. It’ll be interesting to see if he’ll continue his success in the future….
