From time to time I like to reflect back to one of my favorite quotes from a movie…
“You wasted $150,000 on an education you coulda got for a buck fifty in late charges at the public library.” — Will Hunting, Good Will Hunting
Now I’m not saying you can substitute a formal education with reading and learning on your own, but the personal growth you can experience from reading is invaluable. What started off as my own little ‘manifesto’ has grown into an exciting experience and educational journey. This site has allowed me to brush up on my business acumen before taking the plunge into a real MBA program. The ability to interact with leading business thinkers, their publishers and publicists, and the other reviewers has been a rewarding opportunity which has paid in dividends compared to my original $90 investment in a domain name.
Currently I’m working for one of the most recognizable brand names in the world, Harley Davidson, and previously had the opportunity to work for one of the worlds leading engineering and manufacturing companies ITT. Shortly after completing my undergrad at SUNY Oswego with a degree in Information Science I relocated to Chicago.
Lately I find my interests leaning toward cognitive and behavioral sciences (which tends to focus on the social side of humans like social networks, organizational behavior, and the effects of cognitive biases). What does this have to do with business? Everything! People are the heart and soul of business. ‘Nuff said.
I look forward to BizBookTalk’s future and pledge to continue providing readers with valuable content!!

My name is Jim English and I currently live in Dallas, TX, working for an industrial gas company called Air Liquide. I’ve done a variety of jobs while here but am now focused on business development and marketing. As such, I’ve become very interested in business theory and practice and hence my growing interesting in business-related books. On the side, I like to dabble in web/tech stuff and recently helped out on the site pbwiki.com by contributing to the marketing efforts; in addition, I love to read. I hope to write interesting and helpful reviews here and welcome any and all comments. Thanks!

I am a geek with an equal dose of technology and business savvy. I am an Enterprise developer having mostly worked in the ERP (Peoplesoft Inc) and CRM (Epiphany Inc) arena in various roles as a developer, consultant and a Team Lead. The current hat I am wearing is of an Application (Peoplesoft) and Database (Oracle) Administrator (DBA). I work at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, in the division of information technology. I have a BS and an MS in Engineering. I love all aspects of business and technology. My motto is to have an lasting impact and make a positive difference with the work I do and the life I lead. I love reading books and most of my reading of late has been non-fiction that is predominantly business related. I hope you enjoy my reviews of the latest business books that I read.

“A diploma has a date on it for a reason”…this is my motivation for being on the editorial review team at bizbooktalk.com. Aside from getting to work with some very talented and bright people, doing reviews keeps me exposed to new stuff all the time.
I grew up in Buffalo, Wyoming and attended Drury University in Springfield, Missouri on a swimming scholarship. All that chlorine exposure apparently had an effect on me because I ended up with a BA in physics and an MA in Marketing five and half years later. That aside, I quickly moved to Bozeman, Montana after graduation to play outside as much as possible. The weird educational background has allowed me to work in software marketing for a company that serves the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Getting the chance to read and interact with authors in the business press arena has been an absolute blast. If you have any feedback on a review or want to submit a book, please don’t hesitate to contact me at jcook[at]bizbooktalk[dot]com. Thanks for reading!

I have been reading business related books in my free time for the past several years. I enjoy reading both general business books as well as personal finance/investing books for the do-it-yourself investor. I tend to read a combination of investment classics and more current personal finance books. I’m looking forward to publishing new reviews on bizbooktalk.com in these areas. I can be contacted at mreiners[at]bizbooktalk[dot]com.
